The tomb attributed to Sheikh Muhammed Ensari is located in the İslam Bey Park in the Yeni district. The tomb, constructed towards the end of the 18th century, lies 400 m to the west of the Old Hamam and was built in the place where Sheikh Muhammed Ensari died a martyr.
The single-domed structure has a water fountain next to it, and it is believed that the tomb possesses healing powers for the sick.
WHO WAS MUHAMMED ENSARİ?
It is thought that Ensari was one of the sahaba (disciples of the prophet Mohammed). He worked as a surgeon in the Islamic Army which conquered the region but was killed in battle in the year 17 AH.
