Yakacık Mosque

The Yakacık Mosque is in the centre of Yakacık village, 7 km southeast of Altınyurt village.  It is thought to have been built along with the Yakacık Bridge in the time of Abdulhamid II, as part of the Haj Road project.

The mosque is notable for the architecture of its limestone ashlar masonry minaret. It has a northfacing entrance, a single courtyard running lengthwise, a barrel-vaulted ceiling and flat roof. There is a concrete hut in the courtyard, and a 4-line Arabic inscription on a stone at the entrance.  The mosque has been left to fall into ruin.
