Travelling southeast from the village of Dokuzyol and through the Barak plain, you will reach the Karkamış train station after about 35 km.
It is a complex consisting of the station building, train maintenance facility and staff housing. It was built for the Ottoman State by German engineers at the beginning of the 20th century, as part of the Hejaz-Baghdad Railroad Project. It has been in continuous operation since it was built, and is a point of interest that evinces the architecture, history and culture of its period. The ashlar masonry station building has two storeys and a hipped roof. Although the walls are original, the doors and windows are not.
